Advice for keeping up your fitness goal in 2024 after the New Year

Billings, Montana – Once again, it’s that time of year when a lot of us set fitness goals for the New Year and then, for whatever reason, most of us fall short of those goals.

“I think it is a little scary for a lot of people. They start motivated and I guess after a month or two they just burn out,” said Justin Williams, the Owner and Head Coach at CrossFit Iron Den.

Coach Williams stated that in his ten years in the fitness business, he has observed a lot of new members join the gym at the start of the year, but some of them struggle to keep up their subscriptions.

“It’s New Year’s, a busy time. A lot of people, especially a lot of new people join the gym, but it can be intimidating coming to a new place or setting those big fitness goals until they find a community,” explained Coach Williams.

In response to a question regarding how individuals may maintain the same zeal and commitment to their fitness resolutions for the new year, he stated that the secret is to concentrate on short-term objectives rather than aiming for larger ones.

“A lot of people set these huge goals, which isn’t a bad thing, but you should have a short-term goal and a long-term goal and just keep chipping away at these things. I think if you have the right people around you, community, coaches, it just makes it a lot easier,” emphasized Coach Williams.

He went on to say that maintaining consistency and realizing that any journey, particularly one linked to fitness, can support people in keeping up their resolutions.

“Fitness journey is not a sprint; it’s a marathon. So, it’s going to take time. Be consistent and just show up. “Whether it’s CrossFit, Powerlifting, Bootcamps, or circuit training or even walking 30 minutes a day is great for your fitness and health, “added Coach Williams.

The Iron Den gym debuted in October 2021 and now has 120 members. The address is 100 24th St. W. Except on Sundays, the gym is open from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day of the week. $ 50 for open gym time and $135 for unlimited CrossFit classes are included with membership.
