Billings, Montana – During the holiday season, Billings Logan International Airport is handling roughly 2,500 passengers per day through the terminal.

According to Jeff Roach, the airport’s director of aviation and transit, Billings Logan is witnessing an overall rise in passenger traffic in 2023 of almost 5% over the previous year.

“We are happy that travel numbers are up. It’s really good for Montana to continue to see this robust increase as we are coming out of the pandemic period,” emphasized Roach.

This year, a lot of people are traveling, thus certain airlines, including Allegiant and American Airlines, have opted to increase the number of daily flights.

“With additional passenger numbers, we’re seeing the airlines ramp up. So American added an additional flight daily to Dallas, Allegiance added additional flights to Mesa and Las Vegas bringing their flights up to almost daily flights to those destinations, United and Delta airlines have increased the number of seats available by up gauging the aircraft,” added Roach.

Additionally, he stated that they are still seeing instances of guns being brought through security checks and incorrectly packed guns in checked baggage.

“When these things occur, we have to respond with our law enforcement, and it just slows the process down not only for the person who has the firearm in their bag but also those that are behind them in line waiting to get through security,” explained Roach.

In addition, he suggested that travelers check their checked and carry-on luggage for any prohibited goods before heading to the airport, as well as arrive at least two hours before their scheduled departure.
