Billings Senior High’s Shelli Strouf named Principal of the Year
Billings, Montana – At the principal conference in Butte on Wednesday, Shelli Strouf, the principal of Billings Senior High School, was chosen the Principal of the Year by the Montana Association of Secondary School Principals.
After 28 years of dedication to the teaching profession, Strouf said this honor validates the hard work she has done over the years and inspires her to keep going for her kids.
Regarding her goals for this year, she said that she wants to make sure that everyone feels comfortable attending the school by improving safety for both teachers and children.
“The focus for next year will be on safety and how we can make teachers and students feel safe in the building. We have an old camera system, and we have some struggles and some things that we need to work on. So, that will be kind of where I continue to put efforts to build that safety component at Senior so that everybody feels safe when they come to school, “explained Strouf.
She added that this year, she is also concentrating on giving students weekly reading practice to improve their literacy and ACT scores, which will enable them to advance in life.
Sadie Borgsterom, a sophomore at Billings Senior High, one of her pupils, wrote an article in the yearbook about her first encounter with Strouf, stating that she was pleasantly surprised by her understanding and support for her kids.
“When she represents the school, she doesn’t just represent the school as a base but she represents the students which is amazing because she doesn’t just like speak on her behalf but she’s like I know these kids can do it even if we don’t think we can you can do it, she’ll always be there supporting us and proving that we can do it,” shared Borgsterom.
The NonStop Local crew is very happy for Strouf and the whole Billings Senior High community to receive this esteemed award.
