Bond for Billings Parks and Recreation not passing

Billings, Montana – It looks like the majority of Billings voters rejected the $143 million Parks and Recreation bond.

Preliminary results showed that 30.88% of voters supported the contentious proposition and 69.12% opposed it.

The $110 million south side recreation facility and repairs and upgrades to the city’s 16 parks, trails, and playgrounds are among the projects that the bond is intended to finance.

Shortly after the initial totals were released, Play in Forward Billings, a charity that supports the bond’s approval, released the following statement.

“One of the reasons we felt so strongly about passage of this Bond was the tremendous investment it would have made in our youth… We are sad to see that, despite our best efforts, the projects contained in this Bond will not become a reality at this time.”
