Finding inexpensive outfits for the next school year

Bozeman, Montana – Parents are starting to shop for new clothes for their children as the new school year gets underway.
In Bozeman, there are many places to find inexpensive clothing, such as Sacks Thrift Shop. Year-round, they provide a wide variety of children’s clothing, including coats, hats, gloves, and scarves, as well as essential school supplies like backpacks. Some kid-friendly items have price tags as low as $1 per item.
“I’m sure most people are aware right now, just things are pretty expensive… And if you’re going to college, that’s expensive. So just having options for shopping is definitely important,” said Nicole Buettner, Sacks program manager.
The nonprofit organization Sacks collaborates with a number of other Bozeman-area organizations, including the HRDC. They have a voucher program that you can apply for through a partner agency, or you can inquire about it directly at the store if you or someone you know needs it.
You may apply for the voucher once every six months. You receive $50 in store credit to spend on necessities like clothing, footwear, housewares, outdoor equipment, and bedding.
Bozeman is home to a Once Upon a Child location as well. From newborns to high school seniors, they buy and sell gently used children’s clothing, toys, and other products. Additionally, they provide a store credit program and offer their clothing at reasonable prices.
“Kids grow over the summer, and they are very quick growers, and we offer cash or credit. So, it’s really nice when people come in and bring their stuff to us and sell to us. They can also use that store credit to go and buy new clothes for their kids, which is really cool,” said buyer Annette Potts.
They want to be able to assist everyone in the neighborhood, she said. For students who play sports, they also provide training equipment in addition to everyday apparel.
The shop will host a one-year anniversary sale on August 19th.
