Bozeman, Montana – A Palestinian flag that had been affixed to one of the famous Christmas Spider displays downtown was taken down by a Bozeman Fire Department crew.

Late on Sunday morning, the flag was taken down.

During Saturday night’s Christmas Stroll, the flag was illuminated with lights, which sparked intense online criticism, discussion, and observations.

After being contacted by Rabbi Chaim Bruk of the Chabad Lubavitch of Montana, Bozeman’s Deputy Mayor Terry Cunningham stated that the flag was not a decoration approved by the city and that the information had been shared with the mayor and city manager.

Cunningham stated that he could only surmise that the flag was hung by someone climbing up on the roof and using one of the guy wires for the spider.
