Celebration of the planned Skyline Trail held by Billings TrailNet at the Tour de Fleur in the city

Billings, Montana – Due to the opening of trails and recreational places, biking is becoming more and more popular in Billings. Riders will be able to take advantage of the spectacular views of Billings, have more access to mountain biking routes, and enjoy longer, safer rides with excellent linkages to other trails thanks to the creation of the Skyline Trail.

At the Tour de Fleur, a family and friends fun ride on Saturday, June 3, 2023, Billings TrailNet, Intermountain Healthcare (previously SLC Health), and a host of sponsors ask the community to enjoy the new possibilities the Skyline Trail will bring for better biking.

The celebration will start at 9 a.m. in the Wise Wonders Children’s Museum parking lot at 3024 2nd Ave N in downtown Billings. Riders can decorate their bikes at a bike decorating kiosk with flowers, perfect their mountain biking abilities on bike rollover ramps, and enter a lottery for a chance to win a unique beach cruiser bike with the Tour de Fleur logo.

Riders can compete in a costume competition for the best decorations in seven categories, including best Tour de Fleur couple, best-decorated bike, “Back in the Saddle” theme bike, best family with decorated bikes, best group of friends (four), best ensemble (coordinated bike decoration and rider costume), and best children’s costume and decorated bike (ages 12 and under). At 9:30 am, judging for all reward categories will start.

Bicyclists can select between two routes, but they are not required to do so in order to participate in the event. A 15-20-mile ride begins at 10 a.m., while a 2-1/2-mile parade-style ride begins at 10:30 a.m. and travels through downtown Billings. The option to throw flower petals at the riders as they leave is available to those who choose not to ride.

The Tour de Fleur offers rides for all levels of cyclists, whether they are novices or seasoned pros, and unites them in a celebration of the passion of bicycling.

Funds raised by the Tour de Fleur are used to improve the trails and bikeways in Billings.
