In self-defense, a hunter shoots a grizzly bear close to Gardiner
Montana – According to Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks (FWP), a grizzly bear was killed by a hunter on Tuesday in Beattie Gulch, which is located north of Gardiner.
According to a press release from FWP, the hunter was attacked by a grizzly bear and retaliated by shooting the beast at close range. The hunter escaped unharmed.
An animal carcass was discovered close to the attack scene by FWP investigators working with personnel from the National Park Service, U.S. Forest Service, and U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.
The report stated that FWP bear specialists and wildlife wardens concluded the bear’s actions were probably protective.
There was no other information available, and the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service is still looking into the event.
