The annual Refresh the Rims program will be hosted by MSU Billings Outdoor Adventure Leadership
Billings, Montana – On Saturday, October 14, at 9:30 a.m., Billings Parks and Recreation along with the Montana State University Billings Outdoor Adventure Leadership program will present the annual Refresh the Rims event.
Refresh the Rims is the biggest organized cleanup of the Rims; volunteers will be led by Billings Parks and Recreation and the Outdoor Adventure Leadership program across five miles of recreational space above and below the Rims to remove trash and debris from a park that is beloved by many residents and one of the city’s most iconic landmarks. Since 2012, Billings Parks & Recreation and MSU Billings Outdoor Adventure Leadership students have been in charge of the program.
“Refresh the Rims provides the Outdoor Adventure Leadership students at MSUB an opportunity to lead volunteers in a Billings beautification project,” says Lynne Fitzgerald, assistant professor of health and human performance. “It’s a win-win situation.”
Groups of volunteers will be formed to cover different parts of the Rims. The cleanup is a family-friendly project that will take about two hours to complete. It is requested that those who are interested in taking part register online.
