The crew of the USS Billings will visit during the week of Veterans Day

Billings, Montana – This week, more than a dozen USS Billings crew members will spend some time in the city that bears their ship’s name.

When they land in Billings, the 17 crew members of the USS Billings Gold Crew have a full program ahead of them.

They will attend a number of Veterans Day events and visit some local landmarks while in Billings.

“We want them to experience us and show them what Billings is and who we are and recognize them for the wonderful job that they do,” said Ron Spence, Board Chair for the Friends of the USS Billings group.

Senator Jon Tester and his wife Sharla will attend the Veterans Day event at Lockwood High School on Friday at 11:00 a.m. with the captain of the Gold Crew. The ship, which was commissioned into service in the summer of 2019, had Sharla Tester as its sponsor.

The public is invited to meet and chat with the crew at the following venues during their additional stops during the week:

Nov 11 10:00 – 1:00 Veterans Day Celebration Lockwood High School
Nov 12 9:00 – 9:45 Billings Public Library (USS Billings Display)
Nov 12 10:00 – 10:45 Yellowstone Kelly Interpretive Site
Nov 12 10:45 – 11:45 Yellowstone County Museum
Nov 12 Noon – 4:00 Rocky Mountain College Football Game

The USS Billings is a littoral combat ship of the Freedom class and the first ship in navy service to bear the name Billings.
