Billings Fire Department water rescue team rescued stranded boaters on Yellowstone River

Billings, Montana – The water rescue squad from the Billings Fire Department was able to save boaters who had been stranded in the Yellowstone River early on Thursday morning.
The city government of Billings shared an update on their Facebook page stating that the boaters spent the night out on the water. On Thursday morning, a call came in to the dispatch center reporting that there was a boat on the river with three people and a dog stuck inside. Before the rescue crew came, the boat’s driver and the dog were able to swim to safety on the shore.
The crew was able to rescue the two remaining passengers from the boat and evaluate their condition. Information on how the boat got stranded was not released.
Officials are advising people who go for floating recreation on the river not to use pool inflatables since these products are not designed to be used in rough water and terrain.
