Billings, Montana – A Billings man who was shot after a fight outside a restaurant had his bond set at $20,000 on Thursday.

Judge Rod Souza arraigned 35-year-old Daniel Wayne Brusard in Yellowstone County District Court via video link from the local jail. Brusard entered a not guilty plea to both the misdemeanor charge of violating a protection order and the felony charge of assault with a weapon.

Souza set the bond after hearing from both the prosecution and the defense that Brusard had a limited criminal history, including one misdemeanor conviction in Arizona for possessing an open container of alcohol.

For an incident that resulted in shooting on November 30 outside the Montana Club restaurant, Brusard is facing charges.

Authorities claim that when Brusard started screaming and threatening people near the restaurant entrance, he was a patron there. A client allegedly shot Brusard in the chest after he pulled a firearm out of a car and threatened to shoot.

Only the initials R.P. have been used in court records to identify the shooter of Brusard. There are no charges against that person.
