Montana tumor young patient assisting families going through a similar experience

Helena, Montana – Support has arrived from all over Montana since Alayna Hutching’s brain stem tumor was discovered to be the cause of her initial diagnosis.

Recently, that support has spread to a number of businesses around the nation, and with the donations, the brand deals, and the possibilities to exhibit Alayna Hutchings, it can occasionally be difficult for her parents to keep up with it all.

Alayna’s father Danny interjected, saying, “busy,” with a light chuckle, when asked how the Hutchings family’s upcoming few months looked.

“I don’t even have time to think now,” said Danny.

Alayna and her family learned about the tumor in August 2022 and that, due to the tumor’s placement, she was ineligible for standard treatment choices.

Since then, thanks to the assistance they have gotten, the Hutchings family’s life has significantly improved. However, with so many donations and chances flowing in, Alayna decided to do something a little different with some of the money.

“Give it to kids with tumors and cancer,” said Alayna. “Because I want to help kids with tumors and cancers.”

“Her goal is, is to complete all 50 states in three years to be at least to be one to — or to one children’s hospital in every state. And we were constantly on the phone with children’s hospitals, asking them what they’re needing for donations. You know, if my daughter can attend to go see some of [the children],” said Danny.

Many companies have gotten in touch to see how they can support Alayna’s objective, whether it be by providing vacation accommodations, gift-giving, or direct financial contributions to the plan.

Alayna is still a seventh-grader in elementary school despite everything, and her parents couldn’t be more pleased with her for taking on such a challenge.

“I’m very, very proud of her. That— that means so much to me that — that she has such a strong spirit and such a good mind on her that — that she can just again, plow through it and be able to take the stuff and put it away and just keep going. That’s very important and I’m very, very proud of her for that, especially for a seven-year-old,” said Makaya Hutchings, Alayna’s mother.

The family has created a Facebook page where they will post updates so that others may find out more about Alayna and track her development.
