Billings, Montana – At Mountview Cemetery, the inaugural Patriot Run was held to unite the community and support the families of veterans by raising money.

According to Brandon Schmidt, the supervisor of Mountview Cemetery, this had been planned for a while, and he personally found great meaning in the fundraiser.

According to Schmidt, “being a veteran entails joining a brotherhood. With you now, and of all those who came before you. And that entire community has given me so much over the years, both during and after my 24 years of service.”

He continued by stating that “anything I can do to give back to that, show my appreciate for what those folks gave to me is I think a cool thing.”

Participants completed two laps of the picturesque cemetery, or roughly five kilometers, as part of the run.

At the inaugural Patriot Run, more than seventy persons participated in the walk, run, or spectator events.

Schmidt hopes that Montview will adopt this as a new tradition so that they may keep giving back to people who have contributed so much.

The Patriot Run’s whole revenues support the families of fallen soldiers by assisting them in locating their eternal resting place at Mountview Cemetery.

If you were unable to participate in this year’s run, you can still donate through Partners for Parks; however, he stresses that you must specifically state that you would like your money to be sent to Mountview Cemetery for the Patriot Run.
