Sheriff King Funeral Set for Lockwood High School Nov. 29

Hardin, Montana – The Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office has announced the plans for Big Horn County Sheriff Darrell King’s funeral services, working in collaboration with other public safety partners. King, 55, died in a car accident on Sunday. He was a mentor, a Marine, and a member of the Crow and Northern Cheyenne Tribes. He was also a regional authority in law enforcement collaboration.

On Wednesday, November 29, at 10 a.m., there will be a memorial service for King at the Lockwood High School Gymnasium, which is located just east of Billings, Montana. The late Hardin Sheriff will be escorted to the service at Lockwood High School at 8 a.m. by a convoy of local public safety vehicles from the Big Horn County area.

Please heed the instructions of the attendants guiding parking traffic during the service. There is parking for the disabled. Sheriff King will be escorted back to Hardin for the funeral rites at the Fairview Cemetery, located at the intersection of Vanzandt and Cemetery Roads, west of Hardin, by a convoy of public safety vehicles after the memorial. There may be delays on Wednesday morning in Hardin, on Interstate 90, and on US Highway 87 East near Lockwood due to the funeral procession routes.

A website that will stream the service live, a public safety coordination hotline, and speakers from the federal, tribal, and state levels may all be revealed on Monday. The family has asked that the media attend the service from a designated media area at the back of the gym.

Sheriff King’s funeral home visitation is scheduled for this weekend at Bullis Mortuary on Center St. in Hardin, Mont. on Saturday, Nov. 25, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and on Sunday, Nov. 26, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. In Hardin, Mont., at the Big Horn County Fairgrounds, 118 Sawyer Loop, there is a wake scheduled on Tuesday, November 28 at 4 p.m. Sending flowers, presents, or condolence letters to the family liaison at the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office, Box 905, Hardin, MT 59034 is acceptable.
