Belgrade School Board is looking for community input as it searches for a new superintendent

Belgrade, Montana – A number of hearing sessions will be held as part of the Belgrade School Board’s search for the district’s new superintendent of schools, the board announced on Thursday.
In order to get feedback on the search, the school board has arranged four focus group listening sessions:
• Community Business Leaders: Tuesday, Nov. 8 at 7:00 p.m.
• Administrative Team: Wednesday, Nov. 9 at 9:00 a.m.
• Community and Parents: Wednesday, Nov. 9 at 6:00 p.m.
• District Staff: Monday, Nov. 14 at 4:00 p.m.
All scheduled listening sessions will last for two hours and take place at the Heck School Library (308 N. Broadway).
Shortly after Godfrey Saunders, the current superintendent informed the Board of his impending retirement in September, the search process got underway. Saunders was chosen by the Board as the District’s Superintendent in July 2020 after serving as an interim superintendent from July 2018 to June 2020.
“Godfrey has provided our district with wonderful leadership and we feel fortunate that he will conclude his long, successful career here in Belgrade,” Board Chair Frank Stock said in a media release.
The application period for the position of superintendent of schools concludes on November 12; applicant screening is anticipated to start on November 14. On the website of the Belgrade School District, the position is now posted.
