Glacier National Park hires interim superintendent

Montana – Glacier National Park has hired an interim superintendent, who will begin work in January. Glacier National Park’s interim superintendent, Kate Hammond, will start in January. Jeff Mow, the current Superintendent, is retiring at the end of the year.

Hammond is the National Park Service’s Intermountain Region’s deputy regional director and chief of staff. She’s been in charge of 46 park units in Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, and New Mexico since 2016.

As Glacier National Park prepares for another busy season and analyzes what its ticketed entrance system will look like following the first summer of limiting visitation during peak hours this year, Hammond will fill in for her.

There is no timeframe for finding a permanent replacement for the superintendent.
