Billings, Montana – Memorial Day ceremonies took place around Billings on Monday, including one at Terrace Gardens Cemetery and another at Mountview Cemetery.

Hundreds of people met at the Mountview Cemetery service to hear from guest speakers such as Vietnam veteran Dave Rye, Billings Mayor Bill Cole and military liaisons instead of Senators Jon Tester and Steve Daines.

The speakers shared personal memories and thoughts on the significance of Memorial Day.

“It’s very important that we carry on the legacy today and honor those that have gone on before us,” Bill Kennedy, Chairman for the Friends of the National Cemetery, says.

“It means a lot, it helps me remember the people who will always stick in my memory who we’ve lost,” Dave Rye, a Vietnam veteran and the keynote speaker at the Mountview service, says.
