Update: Worker rescued from silo at Western Sugar Co-Op in Billings

Update: The rescue mission of the man buried in silo was finished successfully.

Billings, Montana – A rescue mission is ongoing for a Western Sugar Co-Op worker who is buried to his neck in a sugar silo.

The fire crews arrived around 9:30 a.m. to rescue the trapped man.

According to the Billing Fire Department Chief Kevin Bentz, the man is awake, alive and breathing. The mission will be long, labor intensive and the rescue crews must be very careful.

As the State Street from South 29th Street to South 30th Street is shut down to traffic, drivers are asked to avoid the area.
