Billings man died in a multi-vehicle crash

Billings, Montana – One person was killed and one person was injured in a multivehicle collision that occurred on US-87 near Lewiston shortly after 3:40 p.m. on Saturday, June 25.

The Montana Highway Patrol reports that a man from Billings, Montana, 42 years old, was traveling westbound on US-87 in a Buick Lesabre when he drifted into the other lane and into oncoming traffic.

When the Buick slid into the lane, there was a Ford Expedition operated by a woman from Lewiston who was 34 years old, as well as a Ram 3500 driven by a man from Grass Range who was 69 years old. Both of these vehicles were heading westbound.

The driver of the Ford made an effort to avoid the other car by veering into the westbound lane of traffic. After hitting the side of her car, the Buick kept going in the wrong direction and crashed into the front of the Ram 3500, hurting the driver.

The drivers going eastward were both wearing their seatbelts, but the driver of the Buick was not wearing his. He was declared dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel.

According to the investigation, speed and drugs are both possible contributors to the accident. However, no specific information on any of these factors has been made public at this time.
